Norman’s life began on September 30, 1931 in Madison, KS. He is the son of James E. and Audrey Opal (Evans) Turner. Norman is a 1949 graduate of Madison High School. On September 16, 1951, he married Barbara Hanes in Madison. Norman worked in the oil fields for Occidental Petroleum as a pumper. He was a faithful member of Temple Baptist Church. Norman enjoyed fishing, camping, riding horseback and playing guitar. His greatest joy was his faith and family. His loving family includes his children Mike (Dinah) Turner of El Dorado and Lizabeth Turner of El Dorado; granddaughters Dea (Eric) Littrell of Fairborn, OH, Mindy (Ron) Reynolds of Wichita, and Micah (Cameron) Herrick of Wichita; five great grandchildren Tyas, Caydon, Talyn, Corryn and Rayne, one great granddaughter Willow; his sister in law Melba Turner of Broken Arrow, OK, brother in law and sister in law Wayne and Darla Hanes of El Dorado, and Donald and Carline Esslinger of Liberty, MO. Norman passed away on February 22, 2018 at Lakepoint of El Dorado. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara in 2011, son Greg in 1975, two brothers and two sisters and his parents. His family will gather with friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home where his funeral service will be held on Monday at 2 p.m. led by Pastor Ronald Jones, Sr.. He will be laid to rest in Walnut Valley Memorial Park. Memorial contributions in Norman’s name may be directed to Heartland Hospice or the American Diabetes Association.
