My condolences to the family. I worked with Bill at Coastal Eagle Point Refinery from 1991 until his retirement. We had a lot of laughs over the years. It was a honor to have worked and laughed with Bill.

I’m deeply saddened to learn of your father’s passing. I worked with him at the Coastal Refinery in NJ from ‘94 till his retirement. Some of the many things we had in common were the love of sports, Naval service and sense of humor- all of which made for many cold nights and hot summer days in the refinery spent telling stories, making up lies and holding forth for great debate on anything and everything.
He was a proud father, Freemason and most of all JayHawker.

The one subject he would always love to talk about were his children and family. A proud man, but even more proud of the accomplishments of his children- I always held an admiration for his loyalty and depth of love for you all.

Billy, while sometimes loud and often stubborn, had a heart of gold and would often come up to you quietly to impart some advice, share a meal from home or any kind of gestures of friendship.

I’m honored to have made his acquaintance in the short time I spent with him in his Jersey life and miss his friendship.

God bless you all and Rest Easy Billy Gene-

Nick Christian

Deepest sympathies to all of you. Bill an I grew up, well we got older together, don't know how? Someone had to be watching over us. Bill (Starkey as he was known all through grade school and high school) was just plain ornery. He and I did things that I hope he never told his children. We were always fighting and he always won. He would get me in a headlock until I would give up then he would set on me until I would give up again. Bill attended most of the EHS reunions where we would talk of our youth and family. At these reunions I really got to know Starkey. I hope to meet him again, somewhere just pasted the moon to continue our reunions and another headlock or two. Thinking of you and your family - Jim & Liz Lockhart, EHS Class of "56"

Bill was ornery back when he worked at frontier as a security guard he would pull in my yard late at night (down at the barn my man cave) turn on his flashing lights and siren and scare the h*** out of my friend. We are going to miss you! love ya bill/

I met Billy a few years back. I would see him on His porch doing his crosswords. I am handicapped and use an electric wheelchair in my travels of the neighborhood.
We talked and became friends immediately. He got his scooter this past fall and sometimes we would travel together. He was very thankful and excited to be inducted into Eldorado Sports Hall of Fame. I am so glad He was able to get that induction before his passing to Our Lord.
God Bless Family and Friends of Billy Sharkey . I am going to miss him dearly Amen Rollin s. Jensen
