Wilma’s life began on February 23, 1939 in Madison, Kansas. She is the daughter of Harry and Vivian (Waite) Taber. Wilma was united in marriage to Theodore “Teddy” Requena on April 6, 1962 in El Dorado. She was a caregiver and homemaker to her family. Wilma was a great cook and had a deep abiding love for her entire family. She enjoyed crocheting and was a parishioner of St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church. Her loving family includes her children Alesia (Brian) Countryman of Emporia, Alfonso (Jennifer) Requena of Nowata, OK, Theodore (Janelle) Requena of Towanda, Santana (Shannon) Requena of El Dorado, Julian Requena of El Dorado, and Gregorio Requena of El Dorado; several grandchildren and great grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Wilma passed away at her home on Sunday March 3, 2019. She is preceded in death by her husband Teddy, sons Ricky Requena and Ricky Vanesse and her parents. Wilma’s family will gather with friends on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home where Rosary prayers will be offered at 7 p.m. Thursday. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 10 a.m. at St. John’s the Evangelist Catholic Church led by Father John Lanzrath. Wilma will be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
