Bill was a great guy who protected our town and our families in Benton for many years. He watched over us as teens and kept us out of trouble. He was a great coach, father, and public servant. I will miss him and offer my most sincere condolences to your family. Thoughts and prayers are with you as you say goodbye to a great man! love Tammy

My prayers for comfort and strength for the family. I grew up in Benton and Bill was our sheriff. He was always kind and a great mentor for us kids who grew up in Benton, we respected him very much. He looked out for our tiny community and kept us safe.

Will and rest of the Johnson family, i worked with "Benton 1" from the time i started dispatch in 1994 until his retirement passing the torch so to speak onto Charles Hefton, Bill was always a pleasure to work with, even when he was having a bad day, LOL? He would make a point of stopping by and visiting the dispatch center to make any apologies he thought necessary for his tone of voice on the radio the day or prior day. I always enjoyed talking to him when ever he had time to stop by to say hi. He will be missed, but never forgotten by those that were touched with his presence.
