Longtime Towanda, Kansas resident William H. “Bill” Clark died Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Select Specialty Hospital in Wichita. He was 91 years of age.
Bill was born October 19, 1928 in Morrowville, Kansas, the son of John R. and Ruth (Raven) Clark. He attended school in Morrowville and graduated with the high school class of 1946.
On April 11, 1948, Bill was united in marriage to Doris I. Wells in Diamond Center, Kansas. To this union three children were born, Bruce, Gary, and Sandra.
Bill worked for Boeing Aircraft in Wichita in the Aircraft Tooling division. His career covered 34 years, retiring in 1990.
His signature dress was in overalls. He loved farming and ranching, horseback riding and trail rides. He was an avid sports fan of K.U., the Royals and Chiefs, and his favorite, the New York Yankees. He was an aluminum can collector and always loved a good cup of coffee. His cherished time was spent with his family at various events, and especially his grandchildren who affectionately called him G.G. He was always at any event they were participating in.
Preceding Bill in death were his parents, and Doris, his loving wife of 68 years. He is also preceded by his son Gary, son-in-law David Sysak and two brothers Royce Clark and Wayne Clark.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter Sandra Sysak of Augusta, his son Bruce Clark and Debbie Hokkanen both of Towanda. Daughter-in-law Vicki Clark of Holt, MO, brothers Roger Clark and his wife Marilyn of Pawhuska, OK, and Steve Clark and his wife Sherri of Las Vegas, NV. Also surviving is a sister-in-law Evelyn Clark of Haysville, KS. He has 6 loving grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
At the request of the family, memorials may be made in Bill’s name to the Towanda United Methodist Church.
