Wanda’s life began on May 16, 1941; the daughter of Wendell and Irene (Lindberg) Parsons in Chanute, KS. Wanda grew up in Savonburg, KS and later moved to El Dorado after she graduated from Grant High School in Stark, KS in 1959. Wanda worked as a waitress and in retail until 1976. She then went on to work for Skelly, Getty, Texaco, Equilon and finally retired from Holly Frontier Refinery after 32 years. Wanda enjoyed garage sale hunting, playing bingo, playing cards—especially Canasta; playing pool and she enjoyed traveling. Wanda’s greatest joy in life was her family which includes her children Lawanda Bennett of Augusta, Ray (Angela) Bennett of Mulvane, Nikki Bennett of Wichita; grandchildren Diontae Bennett, Ashley Ice, Alexandria Bennett, Izabella Bennett; great-granddaughter Kynsleigh; sister Sheryl (Gary) Blankenship; nephew Ryan (Rachel) Blankenship; niece Kara (Lynn) Nutt; and memaw to many others. Wanda passed away on February 15, 2020 in Wichita. She is preceded in death by her two sons Gerald Eugene Bennett II and Gerry Lee Bennett and her parents. Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home on Friday, February 21 where her funeral service will also be held on Saturday, February 22 at 10am. Wanda will be laid to rest at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Savonburg, KS at 2:30 pm on Saturday, February 21. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to the American Kidney Fund.
