Virginia “Ginger” Riley’s life began on September 15, 1942 in El Dorado, KS; the daughter of Perry and Bessie (Hetrick) Redburn. Ginger was united in marriage to Richard “Rick” Riley in July of 1961 in El Dorado. Shortly after, they became members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Ginger loved the church and was a member of the Altar Society for many years. She helped serve countless dinners for various functions within the church. Ginger also enjoyed embroidery, scuba diving when she and Rick were living in California and riding motorcycles. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her husband of 59 years, Rick Riley of El Dorado; children Penny Riley of Texas, Kathleen Price of El Cajon, CA, John Riley of MO and David Riley of El Dorado; grandchildren Joshua Riley, Maria Riley, Chelsea Bell and Devyn Riley; several great-grandchildren; siblings Laura Ehrlich and Larry Redburn. Ginger passed away on September 3, 2020 in Wichita. She is preceded in death by 4 brothers and her parents. Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm on Thursday, September 10 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. A Rosary will be said at 10 am on Friday, September 11 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 following the rosary. Memorial contributions in Ginger’s name may be directed to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church Altar Society.
