Virginia’s life began on April 11, 1936, the daughter of Edward Martin and Nellie Louise (Ginter) Koci in Auburn, Kansas. She married Charles W. Denton on September 1, 1956, in Auburn, Kansas. Virginia was a homemaker and a cook at Valley Center High School, Towanda Elementary and Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. She also worked for a child care facility in Augusta and First Baptist Church Daycare in El Dorado. Virginia was an avid reader, read her Bible daily and loved flower gardening and had her own beautiful rock garden.
Her loving family includes her sons, Bradley (Barbara) Denton of Manchaca, Texas, Scott Denton of Potwin, Kansas; daughter-in-law, Lynda Denton of El Dorado; brother, Donald (Shirley) Koci of Auburn; sister, Louise Keitel of Topeka; 3 grandchildren, Ethan (Hailey) Denton of Wiley, Colorado, Emily and Molly Denton both of El Dorado; 1 great-granddaughter, Chloe Denton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse Charles in 1985; son, Russell E. Denton; brother, Martin Koci; sisters, Irene Morgan and Leona Snyder. Virginia passed away Sunday, May 13, 2018, having reached the age of 82 years old.
Viewing will be available on Tuesday, May 15, from 1-5 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 16, at 1:00 p.m. at the Auburn Presbyterian Church, 1101 Washington Street, Auburn, Kansas 66402. Virginia will be laid to rest in the Auburn Cemetery.
