Sarge’s life began on May 19, 1942 in Williamsport, PA. He is the son of Lynn and Mildred (Frontz) Phillips. Sarge is a graduate of Sullivan High School in Sullivan, PA. He served his country in the United States Air Force from July 19, 1962 until his honorable discharge on November 27, 1964. He attended basic training at Lackland AFB, where he was a member of the base honor guard and was later stationed at McConnell AFB in Wichita. Sarge was united in marriage to the love of his life, Eula Fitch on May 19, 1975 in Maize, KS. Sarge worked for Cessna for 15 years, Chase Pipeline for 15 years and later for Beechcraft Aircraft until his retirement in 2004. Sarge never really retired however, he could often be seen mowing lawns and he worked at the El Dorado Livestock Auction for over 40 years. He was a member of Park Avenue Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Post 81 in El Dorado. Sarge’s greatest joy was his family which includes his wife Eula Phillips of El Dorado; his children Desiree (Doug) Smith of Wichita, Shari ( Sergio) Rivera of Dodge City, and Kevin ( Joyce) Phillips of Greenfield, MI; grandchildren Jennifer (John) Crom, Chantry Loewen, Derick (Anabell) Castillo, and Erika Castillo; great grandchildren Xavier, Aiden, Olivia, Carter, Phillip, Vann, Falyn, Vincent, Victoria, Gabriella, Moses, Fabian, Yessiena, Patrick and Adilynn; and sisters Shelby Smith, Helen Booth and Opal (Jim) Propes. Sarge passed away on February 19, 2019 at his home. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Davina Fitzgerald, grandsons Zachary Foulk and Tony Castillo; sisters Ruth Koontz and Belva Lee and brother Lynn W. Phillips. Sarge’s family will gather with friends on Wednesday February 27th from 1-3 p.m. at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home where his service will be held at 3 p.m. led by Pastor Jurdan Counts of Park Ave. Baptist Church. Military honors will be immediately after the service at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest in the Cherry Grove Church cemetery near Nordmont, PA.
