Vera K Needham

Vera’s or “Aunt Babe’s” life began on October 31, 1924, the daughter of Elmer Wesley and Hallie Mae (Hopkins) Day in Tribune, Kansas. She graduated from El Dorado High School Class of 1942. She married Otto Robert Misak Jr., on September 25, 1943. He preceded her in death on November 11, 1943. She married Ralph Russell “Rusty” Lewis in 1949. He preceded her on October 17, 1956. On October 10, 1962, she married Harlan Samuel Needham he preceded her on June 2, 1992. Vera worked at Southwestern Bell as a switchboard operator, retail stores such as J.C. Penney, McDonald’s Department Store, and Woolworth’s. Later she worked for First National Bank as a bookkeeper. She was a member of First Christian Church, loved people, was an avid reader, played bridge, and enjoyed making fudge and peanut brittle for her grandchildren.

Her loving family includes her son, Robert “Bob” Misak III, of The Woodlands, Texas, grandchildren, Robert (Toni) Misak of Cypress, Texas, Carrie Schultz of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Andrew (Stephanie) Misak of Overland Park, Kansas; great-grandchildren, Alexa, Sydney and William Misak and many nieces and nephews.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents; three spouses; daughter-in-law, Anna Misak; brother, Clayton Day; sisters, Estalene McKown, Lena Morgan, Audrey Wilson, Willene Teter and Letha Adams; nephews, Nick and Rod Wilson; nieces, Donna Fuqua, Betty Hill, and Rebecca Demo. Vera passed away Monday, August 6, 2018, having reached the age of 93 years old.

Her family will gather with friends on Thursday, August 9, from noon-1:00 p.m. with her funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. both at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
