Stephen "Steve" Brodie Jones

Stephen “Steve” Jones’ life began on January 13, 1943 in Emporia, KS; the son of John and Eleanor (Salmon) Jones. Steve attended and graduated from El Dorado High School. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Wade on November 6, 1970 in Winfield. Steve was a hard worker and worked in several different fields. He was most proud of owning the A&W Root Beer Stand in Winfield. He also worked for Furley Co-Op, the Kansas Turnpike and drove school busses for El Dorado, and held many other occupations. Steve enjoyed playing and coaching softball. He loved sports of all kinds—his favorite teams were Kansas State and Wichita State Universities. He especially enjoyed attending the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. Steve loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and attended as many as he could. His greatest joy in life was his family which includes his wife Marilyn of El Dorado; daughter Sharon (Gary Jr.) Leister of Kansas City; grandchildren Kevin Leister (Bryanna Widener) of Greeley, CO, Gary Leister III of Chapman, KS and Shaun Leister of Chapman, KS. Steve passed away on March 14, 2020 in Wichita. He is preceded in death by his son, Brodie Jones; brother John Jones and his parents. Friends may gather with the family at 1pm on Thursday, March 19 at the First Southern Baptist Church in El Dorado where his Celebration of Life will be held.
