Ruth’s life began on January 4, 1931 in Tuscon, AZ; the daughter of Leroy and Daisy (Baker) Jones. She was united in marriage to Howard Watkins on June 30, 1947. Ruth also served her country on the Civil Air Patrol. Ruth worked as an executive secretary at Beechcraft, she owned Mr. Swiss for a number of years and later, she worked as a real estate broker for Pyramid Real Estate. She enjoyed riding motorcycles, swimming, playing bingo and dancing. She loved to drink Pepsi. Ruth was a faithful member of the Trinity Episcopal Church. When she was younger she won a Shirley Temple Look-Alike Contest. Ruth was the life of the party, always having a good time. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her grandchildren. Her family includes her children Dana Watkins of El Dorado, Alan (Darla) Watkins of Olathe and Brona Sinclair of El Dorado; grandchildren Laura (Glen) Holz, Jonathan (Allison) Watkins, Travis (Janice) Watkins; Tiffany (Monte) Watkins, Trisha Watkins, Mike (Joanna) Watkins, Jennifer (Bryan) Mydske, TG (Dana) Watkins, Jess (Jessica) Essex and 12 great grandchildren, siblings Marge Hohenberger and Bill Jones. Ruth passed away on January 10, 2020 at her home in El Dorado. She is preceded in death by her husband, Howard. Friends may gather with the family from 5:30-7:30pm on Wednesday January 15 at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Friends may also gather from 11am-1pm on Saturday, January 18 at Trinity Episcopal Church where a Requiem Mass will be held at 1pm. Ruth will be laid to rest at Cassoday Cemetery.
