Roy "Howard" Clements

March 9, 1931 ~ June 16, 2018 (age 87)
Howard’s life began on March 9, 1931 in Ava, Missouri, the son of R.D. and Ida (Frye) Clements. He graduated from Humboldt High School, and married the love of his life, Ila Mae Barnes, on May 12, 1951 and celebrated 67 wonderful years of marriage. After serving two years in the Army he earned his Bachelor’s degree in business education from McPherson College and a Master’s degree from Emporia State. Howard began his career teaching high school and retired from Butler Community College as the Dean of Business and Industrial Technology. During his retirement years he enjoyed woodworking. His creations included planes, trains, trucks and rocking horses. He also liked to fish and hunt. Howard was known for his sense of humor and always had a joke to tell. Howard’s pride and joy was his family. Howard passed away on June 16, 2018 at his home. His loving family includes his wife, Ila Mae, of El Dorado; daughters Tami (Ted) Ibarra of Wichita, Sherry (Rick) Barrier of Winfield, Gina (Dan) Raetzel of Olathe; grandchildren Shannan (Adam) Grilliot, Adam (Heather) Barrier, Hannah (Ryan) Henson, Andrew (Kelsey) Barrier, Rebekah Raetzel and Joanna Raetzel; 10 great grandchildren; siblings, Sue (Dean) Whitaker and Bob (Raye) Clements. Howard is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters and 7 brothers. Friends may gather with the family at 1 pm on Thursday, June 28, for a memorial service at Grace Lutheran Church in El Dorado. Howard will be laid to rest at Sunset Lawns Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Howard’s name may be directed to Grace Lutheran Church in El Dorado.
