Robert “Bob” Niel Denny was born on July 22, 1931 in Casper, Wyoming, the son of Walter and Jacklyn (Nielsen) Denny. Bob graduated from El Dorado High School in 1949 then went on to Kansas University where he studied Mechanical Engineering and eventually graduated from Wichita State with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. He worked as Chief Engineer for the Skelly-Texaco Refinery. Bob married the former Glenna “Jean” Studebaker on June 14, 1953 at the El Dorado First United Methodist Church. Some of his favorite hobbies were shooting, smoking his pipe, building model trains, KU basketball and he was a longtime member of the NRA. His greatest joy in life was his family, which includes, his wife, Jean Denny of El Dorado; sons, Steven (Karen) Denny of El Dorado and Allyn (Tami) Denny of Olathe; grandchildren, Jeremy (Daun) Denny, Stacy Denny, Tyler Denny, Andrew Denny, Kylen Denny, Jordan Denny, Gracie Orr, Thomas Hofstetter and Brian Hofstetter; great granddaughters, Taylor Denny and Autumn Lind; and his siblings, Thomas (Kathy) Denny and Karla Bryant. Bob passed away on August 20, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Janice Hofstetter and sister, Donna McCune. Visitation with friends and family will take place at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home on Friday, August 23, 2019 from 5:00-7:00PM. Service of Christian Burial will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 2:00PM and burial will immediately follow at Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
