Richard A. Macy was born November 9, 1935 in Newton County, Missouri. He was the son of
Earl and Nora (Cope) Macy. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his family
on September 21, 2022.
Richard left Missouri at the age of 17 to go work in the aircraft industry in Wichita, Kansas. He
worked for Boeing Aircraft for 36 years as an experimental flight mechanic. He enjoyed being
able to travel around the country working on projects for Boeing. Many of his projects were
related to the U.S government: his favorite professional accomplishment was working on Air
Force One. After 36 committed years at Boeing, Richard retired - but quickly realized retirement
wasn't for him. He returned to work for various other aircraft companies for almost 10 more
years.
Richard was a proud veteran of the Army. He loved his country and he valued his service
highly.
Richard was a devoted father and grandfather. His favorite things to do were spending time
with his family, playing cards with his friends at the El Dorado Senior Center, and drinking coffee
and telling stories at the local McDonalds. He was the type of person who never met a stranger.
He loved to visit with anyone that would have time to talk.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents Earl and Nora Macy and his sister Nancy Wise, all
of Goodman, Missouri. He is survived by his daughter Rachelle Hildreth; his grandchildren Erin,
Alec, and Derek Hildreth; his daughter Rhonda Macy; his daughter Terra Lackey; and his
grandchildren Stacey Florence and Dylan Lackey. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson Funeral Home at 10:00 am on October 1, 2022. A military graveside service will follow at the Cassoday, KS Cemetery. Contributions in Richard’s memory may be made to the El Dorado Senior Center.
