Richard "Jerry" Jones

Richard “Jerry” Jones’ life began on August 18, 1935 the son of Ernest Elmer and Margaret (Dudley) Jones in El Dorado. Jerry graduated from high school in 1955 in El Dorado. He was united in marriage to Lila M. Requena on August 24, 1957 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in El Dorado. Jerry retired from Slawson Communications as a service manager. He was a faithful parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in El Dorado, served as an usher and participated in adoration for more than 15 years. He enjoyed working on puzzles, tinkering and working with his hands. Jerry had a deep interest in WWII history and he continued his father’s legacy by donating and supporting the National WWII Museum. Jerry passed away on April 5, 2019 in Wichita. His loving family includes his wife, Lila of El Dorado; children Sonny M. Jones of El Dorado, daughter Jerri Michelle (Michael) Davis of El Dorado, son Richard J. Jones of El Dorado; grandchildren Sonny Jones, Shantal Jones, Richard E. Jones, Kandie Jones, Richard A. Jones, John M. Jones, Jasmine Titchenell and18 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 1 brother. Friends may gather with the family from 5-7 on Tues April 9 at the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home where a Rosary will be held at 7 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10 at 10am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in El Dorado. Jerry will be laid to rest at Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Kirby-Morris Funeral Home to help defray funeral expenses.
