Richard’s life began on September 16, 1935 in Canton, Oklahoma. He is the son of Grady and Marguerite (Wahl) Burlison. Richard is a graduate of Wichita East High School and served his country in the United States Marine Reserves. He worked for many years as a salesman for a wholesale grocery and in his early life was an engineer, using surveying, drafting and blueprinting skills he learned while in the Marine Corps Reserve. Richard enjoyed gardening, being in his yard, tending to the flowers, plants and trees. He enjoyed his family and especially his grandchildren. His loving family includes his children Katherine (Chris) Kuhlmann of St. Augustine, FL, Christina (Chet) Hefton of Rosalia, and Richard C. Burlison, Jr. of Reno, NV; grandchildren Laci (Mike) Mullins, Preston Hefton, Ali (Carlos) Garces, Cougar Hefton, Austin (Veronica) Burlison, Levi (Cara) Hefton and Jason Hefton; great grandchildren Max and Wyatt Mullins, Annalynn and Autumn Hefton, Marriana Garces, and Lorei Burlison; and his sister Beth Geiger of Texas. Richard passed away on November 2, 2017 at Lakepoint of Augusta. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, one sister and Aunt Mildred Knowles. His family will gather with friends on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home (200 S. Star; El Dorado, KS). Richard’s graveside service will be held Friday at 1 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery, Fairview, OK. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to Amedisys Hospice.
