Richard K Adlesperger

September 6, 1934 ~ June 26, 2018 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Tribute

Dick was born in Barton, Missouri on September 6, 1934 and passed away at his home in rural El Dorado on June 26, 2018. His family will gather with friends on Tuesday July 17th at 4 p.m. at the Kirby-Morris Life Event Center (224 W. Ash) for a celebration of his life. As a teenager, Dick moved to Kansas to finish school, and started right way building houses with his brother. It was while he was building that he met the love of his life, La Donna Honn. They were married on August 12, 1954, sharing just shy of 64 blissful years together. Always a hard worker, Dick spent his life building homes and providing local contractors with materials through Triple A Builders Supply and Big A Lighting. Always a cautious businessman, Dick had a hand in many lumberyards, homes and properties throughout Kansas, miniature golf courses, and a jewelry store. He was the one you sought out when you had a question, needed a hand, or just wanted to hear a story that would make you smile. A master electrician and plumber, he had the skill to help figure out the biggest building puzzles. It wasn’t hard to find him…just look behind the counter at Triple A, out in the pole barn on top of the lumber racks, in the pasture checking on his cattle, or at the computer stewing about the commodities markets. His love for building was nothing compared to his love of family. Dick and La Donna were blessed with two sons, both of whom share in his love of everything lumber. Along with Doug and Dan, Dick was the proud grandfather of 11 very special grandkids. Dick and La Donna loved to travel, especially with fellow lumberyard owners, and made countless memories along the way. Always humble and kind, Dick will be remembered as a truly stand up man. He is survived by his wife of 63+years La Donna of the home, sons Doug (Sabra) Adlesperger and Dan Adlesperger, daughter in law Angie Adlesperger, brother Don Adlesperger, sister in law Carolyn (Tom) Cotton, grandchildren Josh, Sheena, Tenne, Jordan, Brooke, Taylor, Straughn, Logan, Aspen, Talon and Lakin, eight great grandchildren and three more on the way. Dick was preceded in death by his parents Ray and Anna (Noel) Adlesperger, and his in-laws Carroll and Mildred Honn. Although his passing leaves the family with much sadness, we are all blessed to know that he finally beat the Alzheimer’s that has afflicted his mind and body for the last few years. Without a doubt, Dick is in Heaven today, pitching in and getting his hands dirty, building something wonderful. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you go out and plant a tree in Dick’s memory, so that his love of lumber will live on.
