Raymond’s life began on July 3, 1934 in Marquette, KS. He is the son of John Raymond and Ruth Louise (Olson) Davis. Raymond is a graduate of Lindsborg High School and served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War, where his job was as a minesweeper. He was united in marriage to Dixie Rose Van Fleet on August 9, 1958 in El Dorado. Raymond worked as a welder in several area shops throughout his career. After retiring, Raymond volunteered his time to the Salvation Army and their good works. His great joy was his family which includes his daughters Diane (Don) Deason of Overland Park and Debra (Larry) Van Syoc of McPherson; grandchildren Brooke Ray, Russell (Elizabeth) Deason, Rebecca Enns, Dustin (Melissa) Enns, Jason Enns, Jennifer Enns, Lindsay (Harry ) Travis and Travis (Caitlin) Deason; great grandchildren Kayla, Cameron, Cooper, Parker, Jaxon, Ellie, Rory, Nora, Annaliese, and Ariah; great great granddaughter Phoebe and sister Elva (Duane) Dauber of El Dorado. Raymond passed away on Saturday December 8, 2018 at his home. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Dixie, brother John Melroy and sisters Rose, Bernice, Virginia and Lucille. His family will gather with friends on Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Raymond’s graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Towanda Cemetery with military honors. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to the Salvation Army.
