Mary Ellen Drake

Mary’s life began on August 5, 1946, the daughter of Evant and Peggy (Smith) McNutt in El Dorado, Kansas. She married Wallace G. Drake on July 19, 1985, in Eureka, Kansas. Mary was a caregiver and certified medical aide since she was 16 years old. She worked in Grand Villa in Eureka, Medicalodge, Lakepoint and Vintage in El Dorado and private homes. She enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening, feeding the squirrels, birds and even a fox.

Her loving family includes her son, Linson “Linny” Drake; daughters, Sherri (Ronnie) Tatman, Anita (Greg) Miller, Billie Jo Jones all of El Dorado; siblings Patsy Coggin of Aransas Pass, Texas, Jill (Charlie) Meadows of Clatskanie, Oregon, and Lynn Crooks of Longview, Washington; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wallace in 2017; son, Matthew Drake; brothers, Junior and M.V. McNutt, Dewayne and Loyce Bangel. Mary passed away peacefully on Monday, May 13, 2019, having reached the age of 72 years old.

Her family will gather on Friday, May 17, from 11-12:30 at Carlson Funeral Home. Her graveside service will follow at 2pm in Greenwood Cemetery, Eureka, Kansas.
