Mary Browning

Mary Faye Browning, 88, of Eureka KS, formerly of El Dorado, KS, died Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at Willow Haven Rest Home in Tonkawa. The celebration of her life will be at Carlson & Kirby-Morris Funeral Home in El Dorado, KS on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 with a visitation 1-hr prior to service. Interment will follow the services at Sunset Lawns cemetery in El Dorado.
Mary was born November 17, 1933 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Clement and Jean (Laird) Hamblin. She attended schools in El Dorado and graduated with the Class of 1951. She was united in marriage to Loy Eugene Browning in El Dorado on January 10, 1952. For several years she, along with her husband, owned and operated the Browning Construction Company. They then opened the Lo-Mar Drive Inn in Eureka, KS for 38 years before retiring in 1999. She loved talking to her customers and missed them dearly when she sold Lo-Mar. She, along with the family, competed in horse shows, winning many state, national, and world championships in the Pony of the Americas Association. She was also very active in the Eureka Lioness Club, having served on the board for many years and was the lady that called each member twice a month to see if they were coming to the meeting. She was a diligent volunteer to her community in Eureka, working countless hours at pancake feeds and events. For years, she and Loy played Mr. and Mrs. Claus for schools and nursing homes. After retirement, Mary and Loy kept a cabin at the Eureka Lake where they enjoyed family gatherings with their children and grandchildren. After Loy’s passing, Mary enjoyed spending her later years living with her daughter, Brenda, and then her granddaughter, Krista Dorscher and family.
Mary is survived by six children, Brenda (Jack) Smith of Vinita, OK; Dennis (Maria) Browning of San Antonio, TX; Marshelia Browning of Leesburg, FL; Melvin Browning of San Clemente, CA; Lisa Gibson of Newkirk, OK; and Robert (Michelle) Browning of Paducah, KY; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Loy; Daughter, Kami Williams; Daughter, Kara Browning; Daughter-in-law, Patricia Browning; Brother, Frank Hamblin; and Parents, Clement and Jean Hamblin.
