Marjorie’s life began on January 29, 1942 in Missouri. She is the daughter of Roger and June (Bowe) Prewitt. Marjorie was united in marriage to Donald Hufman who preceded her in death in 1981. She worked as a young woman at the Coleman Company in Wichita but spent most of her working career until retirement at the Butler County Treasurers Office. Marjorie was an avid golfer and loved art, especially painting landscapes and animals. She enjoyed making crafts to give to her family and friends and was a well-cherished pie and dessert maker. Marjorie enjoyed puzzles, vegetable and later flower gardening and most significantly, she was a longtime volunteer and donor for Red Cross Blood Drives, donating many gallons of life-saving blood over the years. She is survived by her son Sam Hufman of El Dorado, step-daughters Christine Wilson of Golden Valley, AZ and Michelle (Kerry) Scherr of Denver, CO; siblings Marilyn Porter of Wichita and Randy Prewitt of Leon; nieces Susan (Paul) Navarrete, Lisa Foos, Janet (Ross) Reed, and Courtney Prewitt; several great nieces and great nephews and special friends Heath (April) Pressnell and Abigail and Samantha Pressnell. Marjorie passed away on Wednesday December 26, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Her family will gather with friends on Monday Dec. 31st from 1-2 p.m. at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home where her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. led by Pastor Ron Jones. Marjorie will be laid to rest in Leon Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed too Butler County Fire District #9 or the Augusta Country Club Junior Golf program.
