Marilyn S. (Noffsinger) Murphy was born on May 22, 1936 in Wichita, Kansas; the daughter of Elwin L. and Janice (Hatfield) Noffsinger. She graduated from El Dorado High School in 1954 and attended Kansas State University and Wichita State University. Marilyn married Craig Murphy on April 4, 1987 at the First Christian Church. She worked at El Dorado High School, Skelly Refinery and retired from the administrative assistant to the Butler County Attorney after 15 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church and loved camping, baseball, football, family time and being a homemaker and wife. Her greatest joy in life was her family, which includes her husband, Craig Murphy of 30 years; children, Bob Burns of Independence, Kathy Burns of Denver, Colorado, Richard (June) Burns of Overland Park and Kyle (Carolyn) Orndorff of Wichita; step children, Kim (Todd) Campbell of Austin, Texas, Tania (Chip) Cook of Lexington, South Carolina, Monica (Todd) Webb of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Jeff (Bryn) Murphy of El Dorado; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Marilyn passed away on December 5, 2019 in El Dorado, having reached the age of 83. She was preceded in death by her parents, Elwin and Janice Noffsinger; sister, Sarah Barney; infant daughter, Marie and son, Michael Burns. Marilyn’s services will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Carlson Colonial Chapel at 10:30 AM led by Pastor Stan Seymour. Burial will follow at Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
