Marilyn’s life began on the family farm in rural Yates Center, on August 20, 1935. She is the daughter of Chester E. and Velma G. (Weathers) Rose. She was a fraternal twin to her brother Marion, who passed away two hours after birth. Marilyn attended Butler County Junior College and shared a graduation day with her son Gary. Marilyn was united in marriage to Delbert E. Diver on December 27, 1951 in Huntsville, Arkansas. Marilyn was a homemaker, wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, reading, sewing, especially quilts, jigsaw and crossword puzzles, any card games and loved professional bull riding. Her loving family includes her children Gary Diver of Cherryvale, KS, Marcia Jones of Towanda and Joseph (Joni) Diver of Yates Center; 13 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren. Marilyn passed away at her home on Sunday June 10, 2018. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Delbert and sister Marjorie Sterling. Her family will gather with friends on Saturday at 10 a.m. at Askren Cemetery, northwest of Yates Center for her graveside service led by Pastor Stan Seymour. Carlson Colonial Funeral Home is serving the family. Memorial contributions in Marilyn’s name may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
