Micki’s life began on September 27, 1923, the daughter of Ralph and Vera (Baltimore) Williams in Grenola, Kansas. She graduated from El Dorado High School Class of 1941 and married Harry L. Barr, Jr. later that year on August 27, 1941, in Detroit, Michigan. Micki was a member of the First United Methodist Church and worked for several businesses in El Dorado. She worked at Brown’s Meat Market, Graves Drug, Walters Flowers, Farm & Home, YMCA and was a Butler County Times Gazette writer with a weekly column entitled “Hometown Profile”. Her hobbies were playing Scrabble, Skip-Bo, reading, crossword puzzles, word finds, bingo and her cats.
Her loving family includes her sons and their wives, Mike and Lynn Barr of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Robert “Robbie” and Susan Barr of Claremore, Oklahoma; 2 granddaughters, Michelle Barr of Minden, Louisiana and Anne Barr-Doctor and her husband, Muddassir of San Jose, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents; spouse; siblings, Mildred Costin, Homer Williams, Hope Boyle and Patricia Ogden. Micki passed away, Monday, February 26, 2018, having reached the age of 94 years old.
Funeral services will be Friday, March 2, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Pastor Andrew Conard officiating. Micki will be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
