Linda Marie Weaver, of Augusta, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, November 25, 2021 at the age of 74. Linda was born on October 14, 1947 in Neodesha, Kansas to Thomas and Flossie (Nichols) Weaver. She earned a Master’s Degree in Education in Pittsburg which she used to become a Special Education teacher for 28 years. After retiring from teaching, she went on to work for St. Catherine’s Hospital in Garden City, Kansas. She was a member of KNEA, GCEA, Special Olympics, Delta Kappa Gamma, and Park Avenue Baptist Church (formerly Grace Baptist Church) in El Dorado, Kansas. The Special Olympics were very dear to her heart. She spent a lot of her time coaching and training the kids for Special Olympics and taking them around to various state competitions. Linda was very active in her community. She was one of the Pink Ladies for Susan B Allen hospital, she volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and taught a Back to Balance class with the home health clinic.
Linda is survived by her siblings, Betty L (Weaver) Lance of Independence, Missouri and Susan A (Weaver) Romig of Independence, Kansas; and 8 nieces and 6 nephews.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Flossie (Nichols) Weaver; siblings, Billy Weaver, Dixie Lee Weaver, Benny Weaver, Viola Irvin, Tommie Weaver, Jean Lance, Florence B. (Weaver) Bressie, and Jack W. Weaver.
Memorial donations in Linda’s name can be made to the Special Olympics.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
