Lena Marie Waltman, 91, of El Dorado, went into Jesus’ arms Tuesday morning, September 8, 2020, at her home. Services will be at 11:00 am Saturday, September 12, at the First Christian Church, El Dorado. Interment will follow in Sunset Lawns Cemetery.
She was born April 3, 1929, Tonkawa, Oklahoma to William Irvan and Julia (Perkins) Barney. Marie graduated from Planeview High School (class of 1947) in Wichita, she married JB Waltman May 20, 1950 in Wichita. She lived in El Dorado since 1957. JB preceded her in death, February 16, 2000.
She worked at The Butler County News and Butler County Community College Library. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the First Christian Church where she taught Sunday School and participated in the Victory Sunday school class as well as the Coutts Art Museum as a volunteer.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Roxanne Waltman of Towanda; one daughter and son-in-law, Sherri and Tim Engels of El Dorado; one brother-in-law, Perry (Carolyn) Waltman of Newton; three grandchildren, Nicholas (Maria) Engels of Benton, Kansas, Chad (Jennifer) Waltman of Alma, Kansas and Marcus (Carrie) Engels of Bel Aire, Kansas; eleven great grandchildren, Savannah, Ellie, Sophie, Maddie, Charlotte, Amelia, Genevieve, Katie, Colt, Henry and Teddy.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Leon Barney and one sister, Helen Beckham.
