Larry Ray Holmes was born on January 7, 1952 in Wichita, Kansas; the son of Robert L. and Betty J. (Briggs) Holmes. He worked as a heavy equipment operator and fabricator for the Butler County Highway Department for over 30 years. Larry was united in marriage to Nola (Johnson) Holmes on November 30, 1970 in Newkirk, Oklahoma. He liked fishing, hunting and woodcarving, but loved his children and grandchildren the most. His greatest joy in life was his family, which includes, his wife, Nola of the home; children, Stacy (Todd) Kaster and Jason Holmes both of El Dorado; grandchildren, Jude, Jade, Jaycie, Josie, Autumn, Auggie and Austin; great grandchildren, Eli, Emery and Lincoln; father, Robert Holmes of Branson, Missouri; sister, Debbie (Armond) Norris, brothers-in-law, Ken (Carol) Johnson, Kevin (Kathy) Johnson and numerous nieces and nephews all of El Dorado. Larry passed away very unexpectedly on March 4, 2022. He is preceded in death by his mother, Betty Holmes and his grandparents. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 26 at Carlson Colonial Chapel at 10am. Memorial contributions can be made in care of Nola Holmes.
