Kathlyn Helmer

Kathlyn’s life began on October 8, 1948 in El Dorado, KS; the daughter of Bobbie and Madlyn (Magers) Boucher. She graduated high school and was united in marriage to James B. Helmer, Sr. in May of 1977. Kathlyn loved animals, especially her cats. Growing up, she enjoyed raising her horses. She supported and loved Hickory Hollow Animal Refuge. Kathlyn loved to collect tchotchkes and enjoyed going to thrift stores and antique stores searching for her treasures. Kathlyn was always family oriented and loved her family dearly. Her loving family includes her children, James (Cynthia) Helmer Jr. of Wichita, Robert Helmer of Augusta, Matthew (Jennifer) Helmer of Abiline, KS, Mark Helmer of Augusta and Anna (Scott) Kowalk of Ohio; 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Kathlyn passed away on January 4, 2022 at her home in Augusta. She is preceded in death by her husband, James and her parents. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 8 at 10am at Walnut Valley Memorial Park in El Dorado.
