Longtime Benton, Kansas resident Kathleen Clifton died Friday, November 1, 2019 at her home, with her loving family by her side. She was 71 years of age.
She was born Kathleen Estes on December 3, 1947 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Fred L. and Wanda (Hayes) Estes. She grew up in Wichita and attended Wichita Heights High School.
On December 3, 1964, Kathy was united in marriage to Thomas “Lewis” Clifton in Pryor, Oklahoma. She began working in the aircraft industry after she was married, her last 18 years she worked as a Modification Mechanic in Final Assembly for LearJet.
Kathy enjoyed sewing and quilting, working in her garden and canning the vegetables she grew. She also enjoyed being outdoors, camping and boating. She loved all animals, especially dogs and horses. She had more pictures of the horses she raised than she had of her kids. The time she cherished most was the time spent with her family.
Preceding Kathy in death were her parents and her brother Fred Estes.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband Lewis of their home in Benton, her children Wesley Clifton and his wife Emmy of Benton, Terri Kuan and her husband Jason of Ft. Collins, CO, Shelly Brown of Augusta, KS, and Lori Clifton of Kansas City, MO. Her grandchildren Josh Smith, Teresa Thompson and her husband Zach, Jeremiah Smith, Hannah Scrivner, Brecken Belshe, Mackenzie Clifton, Rykn Belshe, Coty Clifton, Amanda Clifton, Bailey Rittof and her husband Anthony, Kolton Buer, Grace Kuan, Lukas Brown and his wife Kim. Great-grandchildren Holden Smith, Penelope Smith, Miah Smith, Wyatt Thompson, Carter Thompson, Eli Thompson, Scarlett Smith, Cole Segraves, and Dylan Segraves. She is survived by one sister Mary Lou Grandstaff.
There will be a visitation of Tuesday, November 5, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 6 at 11:00 AM at the Fairview Baptist Church,7982 NW 20th, Towanda. Burial will follow in the Green Valley Cemetery in Sedgwick County.
Memorials may be made in Kathy’s name to the American Cancer Society, for research.
