Katherine "Elaine" Shell

Katherine “Elaine” Shell’s life began on September 28, 1935; the daughter of John J. and Katherine M. (Fellers) Shell in Severy, KS. Elaine graduated from Leon High School and went on to work for Brighthouse Insurance; which became Traveler’s Insurance. Elaine retired from Traveler’s Insurance in 1991. She enjoyed her family and always looked for an opportunity to attend a family gathering. She enjoyed watching various game shows. Elaine was a fan of Mary Higgins Clark books and she had a large collection of them. Elaine passed away on November 20, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. Her loving family includes her sisters Linda Poulter of El Dorado, Joyce Peden of Wichita and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Mavis Troutman; brother, John Shell and great-nephew Cordell Frazier. Friends may gather with the family from 11 am-1pm on Saturday, December 1, at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home where her funeral service will also be held at 1pm led by Pastor Stan Seymour. Elaine will be laid to rest in Leon Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her name may be directed to The Lord’s Diner.
