Julia R Watson

Julia Rae Pieratt Watson, age 74, of El Dorado, KS, passed away unexpectedly on July 7th, 2018 in Oklahoma City, OK.

Born December 8th, 1943, in Guymon, Oklahoma, Judy, as she was known, was the second youngest child of the late Marguerite and Forrest Pieratt’s twelve children.

Judy married her husband of 56 years, Dr. Johnny Dale Watson, on July 8th 1962 in Guymon OK. She is survived by her husband John, and their beloved Pomeranian sidekick JJ. Daughters, Jonna Watson-Rider of Enterprise, KS, Janae Watson-Lickert of Seguin TX, and Son Jarred Watson of El Dorado KS; Seven Grandchildren: Ashley Miller, Jayde Beebe, Austin Rutz, Jillian Beebe, Mackenzie Watson, Jennifer Beebe, Jamie Beebe; & Great-Granddaughter, Charlotte Rutz. Judy is also survived by her big brother Jimmy Pieratt, and little sister Kay Morrison, both of Guymon OK., and too many nieces, nephews, cousins, and greats to even begin to count in family as big and loving as hers. 

Judy was fun spirited, a loving mother, grandmother and wife who spoiled her grandchildren and great-grandchild endlessly. She was not only the life of the party, she was the party! Her smile & laughter were contagious!

Mom loved playing dress-up with her grandchildren, singing silly songs, crafting, floral design, and gardening, (Facebook & Pinterest were GAME-CHANGERS for Judy!) and teasing the love of her life, John (“OH JOHHHN!”).

Judy was a successful business woman. She & John owned and operated “The Cinnamon Tree” and “Grandma’s Garden & Floral” gift shops for over 17 years. She was an active member of the El Dorado Rotary Club and Chamber of Commerce.

For most people, the word “Retirement” means it’s time to slow down…to reduce the amount of activity or work in your life…”pump the breaks” if you will. To those people – Mom would call you “lazy” and “boring”.

To Mom; retirement meant warmer weather, going on cruise adventures with her beloved, and flying south for the winter. Mom & Dad traveled the world together, from Alaska, Hawaii, Bermuda, Jamaica, & Cuba, Zip lining through the Jungle. (Just to name a few!)  She was the official Welcoming Committee for all the new “Winter Texans” that made their way down to their personal Oasis in Mission, TX.

She loved her Red-Hat Girls, Spa Day, planning group trips to the Casino, Flea Markets, and finding the best Ropas in South Texas.

Mother brought light and excitement into the lives of everyone she touched, and she lived a full and rich life…filled with happiness and adventures. She will be incredibly missed by all who knew her. Our lives will never be the same.

“Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore! We must be over the rainbow!”

Memorial service will be Saturday September 8th at 2 p.m. at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home
