Mike Glendening of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away on May 26, 2021 at the age of 69. Mike was born on August 11, 1951 at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado to John W. and Gladys (Cummins) Glendening.
Mike grew up in El Dorado graduating from El Dorado High School with the class of 1969. He was active in sports including football, wrestling, and baseball. His love of baseball carried on long after graduation playing with his lifelong friends in men’s softball competition coached by his dad, John. Mike was an electrician and owned Glendening Electric in El Dorado. He was united in marriage to Debbie (Marrs) Carlisle on November 21, 1981. Survivors include his loving wife Deb of the home; daughter & son-in-law, Sabrina and Adam Olson; grandchildren, Austin Dorrell, Max & Madelyn Olson; sisters, Jan Mattingly & brother-in-law Bill of Topeka and Vicky Bell of El Dorado; and many nieces and nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, John & Gladys Glendening and brother-in-law, Larry Bell. He had a great love for family, friends and spending time on his farm. He will be greatly missed by everyone. He was a loving, kind, and special kind of man.
A Celebration of Life will be Sunday afternoon at Walter’s Pumpkin Patch north of El Dorado from 2-5 p.m. The family encourages all friends to join the family to celebrate the life of a man so dear to all of us.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial to “Madelyn’s Equestrian Scholarship Fund” c/o Debbie Glendening has been established.
