John’s life began on October 24, 1955 in El Dorado. He is the son of Robert A. and Elsie (Parscal) Carson. John is a 1973 graduate of Circle High School. He was united in marriage to Cindy Smith on April 5, 1975 in Towanda. John was employed by Kansas Gas Service for over 30 years. He gave back to his community by serving on the Towanda City Council and serving as Mayor of Towanda. John ran the Towanda Rec Center, umpired softball, refereed basketball for the over 40 leagues at Butler County Community College, coached his own children in basketball, and loved watching his grandchildren play their sports. He never missed a kid’s event. John enjoyed building things, especially signs. He was an avid Kansas University fan and enjoyed fishing and golf.
John’s loving family includes his wife Cindy of Towanda; children Troy (Kristie) Carson and Seth (Michelle) Carson, both of El Dorado and Megan (John) Tetuan of Topeka; grandchildren Zane, Cale and Kaden Carson, Krue Tetuan, Michael Hysell, Christopher and Alexandra Martin, Mason and Max Holmes, J.T., Treyton and Ryker Tetuan; great granddaughter Nadia; his mother Elsie Carson of El Dorado; and his brothers David (Lois) Carson, Terry (Kathy) Carson, Mark (Ja) Carson and Scott Carson, all of El Dorado. John passed away at his home on Sunday June 3, 2018. He is preceded in death by his father Robert.
John’s family will gather with friends on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. His graveside service will be held on Thursday at 10 a.m. at Towanda Cemetery.
