JoDee’s life began on December 4, 1927, the daughter of Guy and Mabel (Grant) Dunlap in El Dorado. She graduated from El Dorado High Class of 1945, and married Larry Joe McCaffree on December 23, 1955, also in El Dorado.
She was a member of Haverhill Christian Church, she loved to read, and was an artist and enjoyed painting and drawing. She loved her dog “Sunny” and enjoyed showing horses. In 1951, she was the first woman to win in the American Royal Horse Show.
Her loving family includes her husband of 63+ years, Larry; children, Jolynn Baker of Andover, J.R. (Barbara) McCaffree of Leon, Jana (Jim) Gray of Leon, and Jarod (Deann) McCaffree of Piedmont, Kansas; 4 grandsons, Myles (Kristina) Baker, Jacob Gray, Tristan Gray and Jace McCaffree; step-grandchildren, Jenae, Cade and Cooper Minnick, and Colby and Chance Bankson; great-grandchildren, Camden Watzke and Damon Baker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant twin sister, Caroline Hope. JoDee passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 8, 2019, having reached the age of 91 years old.
Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, at 2:00 p.m. at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Leon Cemetery in Leon, Kansas.
