Jo Alice Philipi

Jo A. Philipi’s life began on August 8, 1931 in Piedmont, KS, the daughter of Elmer and Ruth (Everett) Garner. Jo graduated from Piedmont High School. She met the love of her life, Joe Philipi and they were united in marriage on December 4, 1949 in Eureka, KS. Jo worked hard raising her family and then worked in the cafeteria at the El Dorado Middle School for over 20 years. She was a fantastic organizer and volunteered with the Scouts and many other organizations. She loved bowling and sewing. Jo was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in El Dorado and loved attending her Sunday School classes. She was involved in the “White Room” clothing ministry for many years. Her greatest joy was her family which includes her children Bob (Billie) Philipi of Wichita and Beverly Anne (Stuart) Moddelmog of Moundridge; 8 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Jo went to be with her Lord and Savior on August 26, 2021 in El Dorado. She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe; son Danny Joe; 2 sisters and 1 brother. “Cardinals appear when Angels are near.” Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm on Wednesday, September 1 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 2 at 10am at the First Baptist Church of El Dorado. Jo will be laid to rest at Piedmont Cemetery.
