Jimmie Ray Anderson passed away on December 5th, 2019 at the age of 87. He was born April 12, 1932, the third oldest of eight children, to John and Capitola Anderson in El Dorado, KS. Jim attended grade school at Oil Hill Elementary and graduated El Dorado High School. He served in the United States Army for 2 years, which included a 15-month deployment to Korea. Jim worked for his father as a truck driver, and later became the owner and operator of Jim Anderson’s Tank Truck Service. For his many years of service in the oil fields, he was inducted into the Kansas Oil & Gas Legacy Gallery in 2015.
Jim loved being an active member of Grace Lutheran Church and serving on the Care Committee. He was active and well-known in his community, and was a member of the VFW and American Legion. During the years of his retirement, Jim spent his time performing volunteer work in many different capacities, rooting for his favorite sports teams (especially the Kansas Jayhawks) and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who were the light of his life.
Jim is survived by his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Anderson, whom he married in 1965; two sons, John Anderson (wife Debbie Anderson), Joe Anderson (wife Rebecca Anderson); two daughters Betty Anderson, Robin Britt (husband Anthony Britt); 8 grandchildren (Matt, Curtis, Amber, Samantha, Jeremy, Nicole, Ringo, Bell) and 8 great grandchildren (Emma, Colton, Eli, Kruze, Cambria, Autumn, Annabelle, Solomon).
Visitation and viewing will be held at the Carlson Funeral Home in El Dorado on December 10th from 5pm to 7pm. Funeral Services will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church in El Dorado on December 16th at 11:00 am.
