On Thursday, November 5th, 2020, Jessie Zilphie (Long) Hefton-Foster, surrounded by her four children, went peacefully home to Jesus at the age of 75.
Jessie was born November 18, 1944, in Butler County, Kansas, to John and Thelma (Welty) Long. She attended school in Rosalia, Kansas, and began her first job at Wells’ Truckstop, also in Rosalia. She went on to work at numerous restaurants, finally retiring in 2002 as the assistant manager of the Red Coach Inn Restaurant, in El Dorado, Kansas.
Jessie was a devoted daughter, wife, mother - adopted “mom” to many - aunt, sister, grandma, great-grandma, and a great friend. She once loved playing basketball and softball, really enjoyed crossword puzzles, computer games, playing cards, and a good old cup of coffee with a cigarette. She told lots of jokes and loved simply talking with friends and family at the kitchen table.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Thelma; two brothers, Roy and Kenneth; sister, Marilyn; husbands, James Robert (Bob) Davis, Chester (Chet) Hefton, Carl Foster; and great-grandson, Jensen Connor Stephens.
Jessie is survived by three sons: James W. Davis and wife Kelli of Rosalia; Charles D. Hefton of Benton; Chester (Chet) F. Hefton and wife Lynn of Rosalia; a daughter, Roberta J. Davis-Seaman and husband Julian of Emporia; a stepson, Michael Foster; brother, Willis and wife Veta of El Dorado; sister-in-law, Sandra; best friend, Carol Ann and husband Jerry of Augusta; many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and numerous others who claimed her as their family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wichita Cancer Center.
Jessie will be dearly missed by all.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 8, 2020, from 5-7 pm at Carlson Funeral Home.
Graveside Services will be held at Blankenship Cemetery in Rosalia on Monday, November 9, 2020, at 2 pm.
