Jerry’s life began on December 16, 1943, the son of Villa and Bessie (Bayless) Thomas in El Dorado, Kansas. He was a grain and cattle farmer and enjoyed fishing, watching old westerns on TV and cutting firewood. He loved his dogs Mouse and Ginger.
His loving family includes his sons, Bud and his wife, Shelley Thomas of El Dorado, Eugene and his wife, Amber Thomas of Perry, Oklahoma; son-in-law, Scott Harris (Carol); brother, Terry Joe Thomas of Benton; grandchildren, Jennifer (Angela) Schaefer, Daniel (Danecca) Thomas, Jerry “J.T.” Thomas, Maria Thomas, Jeannie (Mark) Cookson, Sammy Jo (Virgil) Martin and Christopher Harris; great-grandchildren, Maverick, Kohen, Monroe, Charlotte, Jacob Dale, Elizabeth Jo, Mary Jo, Virgil IV, and Justin; many nieces and nephews.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; son, Kenneth; daughter, Sherri Harris; brothers, Tom, Jim, Jack and Ted Thomas, and a sister, Nellie Wehry; grandchildren, Carter and Benson Schaefer. Jerry passed away at his home, peacefully on Sunday, August 26, 2018, having reached the age of 74 years old.
His family will gather with friends on Friday, August 31, at 1:30 p.m. for a viewing, followed by a graveside service at 2 p.m. both at Burns Township Cemetery.
