Jan’s life began on March 2, 1952, in Oberlin, KS. She is the daughter of Gene and Mildred (Miller) Holmdahl. Jan is a 1970 graduate of Atwood High School and a graduate of Brown Mackey College in Salina. She was united in marriage to Sherrill Vermillion on October 10, 1971, in Oberlin. She was currently employed by the Butler County Sheriff’s Office for the last 23 years and worked as the church secretary for First Christian Church before joining the Sheriff’s Department. She was a member of the National Sheriff’s Association. Jan enjoyed singing and she loved cooking for her family.
Her loving family includes her husband, Sherrill of El Dorado; her mother, Mildred Holmdahl of Andover; children, Michelle (Jason) Daniels of El Dorado and Brian (Veronica) Vermillion of El Dorado; grandchildren, Lakyn Anders, Braylon Daniels, Dannika Touchet and Eric Vermillion; great-grandson, Liam Touchet; sister, Jeani Hengst of Mechanicsburg, PA, and several nieces and nephews. Jan passed away on December 13, 2017, in Wichita. She is preceded in death by her father, Gene, and sister, Janeil Jenson.
Her family will gather with friends on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the First Christian Church where her funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. led by Pastor Stan Seymour. Carlson Colonial Funeral Home is serving the family.
