Born on September 21, 1947 in El Dorado, KS to James A. & Lois (Manka) Lucas. Passed away October 19, 2020 at his home at the age of 73 surrounded by family & friends. Luke was one of five children. He attended grade school at Chelsea School NE of El Dorado, and high school at El Dorado High. Luke also attended Butler County Community College.
Luke worked at the Litton Charolais Ranch in Chillicothe, MO. He also worked at Flint Hills Beef Feeders in Potwin, KS and Pester Refinery (later Coastal Refinery) in El Dorado, KS. Luke then worked and retired from Flint Hills National Residence in Andover, KS. Luke enjoyed his cow-calf operation throughout his life. Luke also enjoyed attending and was a great support of BCCC Grizzlies football games, whether home or away, for many years.
Luke also loved going to auctions, helping at Sundgren Auctions around Butler County, as well as livestock auctions at the El Dorado Sale Barn. Luke and Debbie enjoyed many years of collecting antiques and had booths at many area antique malls. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren and discussing sports with his son, Justin.
He is survived by his greatest joy, Debbie, his wife, and children Justin Lucas of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, and Jennifer (Mark) of Gatesville, TX, and his grandchildren, Luke Mullins and Avery Mullins, and Madison Lucas. Luke is also survived by his 4 sisters, Mary Joyce (Stan) Cross, Carla (Steven) McCune, Sandra Worrell (John) and Kathy Downs (Rob), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Luke was a member of the First Christian Church in El Dorado, KS and the Kansas Livestock Association.
Friends may gather with the family from 5-7pm on Friday, October 23 at Carlson Funeral Home. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 24 at 3:00pm at El Dorado Civic Center.
