Jim’s life began on March 29, 1938, the son of Arthur and Pearl (James) Klontz in Deerfield, Missouri. He graduated from Bronaugh High, Class of 1956, and then joined the U.S. Air Force from 1956-1960. He married Doris Mae Carpenter on December 30, 1960, in El Dorado.
Jim was owner/operator of Klontz Standard Services where he used his mechanical knowledge to take good care of his customers. He also worked for IPS Field Service and also the El Dorado Safety Clinic. He was a jack of all trades, he would research and figure things out until he knew it. His mind was always working to master a skill. He built a sailboat the family traveled on. He was a perfectionist, a carpenter, quilter, and an avid reader. He made pottery, knitted and loved learning and doing anything with his hands.
His loving family includes his wife, Doris of the home; daughters, Kristine Johnston (David) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Kelly Anderson of Haysville, Karen Wiebe (Tom) of Haysville; brothers, Paul Klontz (Diana) of Artesia, New Mexico, Bill Klontz (Patsy) of Kansas City; sisters, Anna Kupetz of Poinciana, Florida, Lois Betts of Coral Gables, Florida; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Jim passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 29, 2019, having reached the age of 81 years old.
His memorial service will be held on Monday, June 3, at 2:00 pm in the Carlson Colonial Chapel. Inurnment will follow in Sunset Lawns Cemetery with Pastor Stan Seymour officiating.
