Jack’s life began on June 11, 1934 in Latham. He is the son of Fred E. and Fern E. (Spohr) Brewer. Jack graduated from Latham High School in the Class of 1952. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Jack was united in marriage to Leah L. Robinson on June 9, 1957 in Latham. He was a farmer and rancher for many years and a mail carrier in Leon on Route 1 for 30 years. Jack was instrumental in establishing the first volunteer fire department in Latham, served on the Leon School Board for eight years and served as Master of the Latham Masonic Lodge for three terms and was the treasurer. He received his 60 year pin from the Masonic Lodge for his service. His loving family includes his wife of 61 years Leah Brewer of Leon; four daughters Cindy (Randy) Schooley of Latham, Kathy Ballew of Leon, Judy (Dave) Johnson of Rosalia, and Tammy (Brad) Jones of Leon; nine grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Jack passed away on Saturday June 30, 2018 at El Dorado Care and Rehab. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers James and John Brewer, son in law David Ballew and grandson Keith Ballew. His family will gather with friends on Friday at 10 a.m.for his memorial service at the Latham United Methodist Church led by Larry Womack. He will be laid to rest in Latham Cemetery with military and Masonic honors following the service. Carlson Colonial Funeral Home is serving the family.
