Howard’s life began on March 5, 1923 in Coffeyville, KS, the son of Howard R. and Bernice (Potter) Cool Sr.. Howard faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was united in marriage to Lois Satterthwaite at the Baptist Parsonage in El Dorado on December 10, 1944. He retired from the oil business working as his own boss at Cool’s Well Corporation. Howard loved serving his country and doing all he could for local veterans. He was a catalyst for the El Dorado Celebration of Freedom and was named Veteran of the Year in 2003. Howard’s greatest joy was his family which includes his loving wife, Lois Cool of El Dorado; daughter Marla (Bill) Lopeman of Rose Hill, son Brad (Roxann) Cool of El Dorado, son Troy Cool of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren Matt Bump, Caid Bump, Raegen Cool; great grandchildren Kailey Bump, Kinsley Bump and Riley Bump. Howard passed away on June 19, 2019 in El Dorado. He is preceded in death by his parents, son Terrel Ross, grandson Blake Cool and brother Harold Cool. Friends may gather on Sunday from 2-4 at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. A celebration of Howard’s life will be held at 1 pm on Monday, June 24 at the First Christian Church in El Dorado. Howard will be laid to rest at Walnut Valley Memorial Park with full military honors. Memorial contributions in Howard’s life may be directed to the First Christian Church or to the Kansas Honor Flight.
