Hazel’s life began in Gore Township in Sumner County, Kansas. She is the daughter of Warren and Willia Mae (Cooper) Stout. Hazel is a graduate of Udall High School and attended Butler County Community College. She was united in marriage to Gene Lynch on June 4, 1965 in Arkansas City. Hazel worked as the bookkeeper for Automotive Parts Inc., the business she and Gene ran until their retirement in 1998. She had also worked for Butler County Community College and International Petroleum Services. Hazel was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she had served on the finance committee, United Methodist Women, and Lydia Circle. She was an active member of the El Dorado Lion’s Club, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Desk and Derrick Club, and volunteered as a “Pink Lady” at Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital. Hazel loved to travel and enjoyed painting and decorating woodworking projects that she and Gene made together. Her loving family includes her husband Gene Lynch of El Dorado; children Carol Moore of El Dorado, and Sandra (John) Newton of El Dorado; grandchildren Cassandra Morgan, Danielle (Anthony) Heilman, J. Tyson (Tammy) Moore, Jennifer Meyer, Amanda (Dustin) Anderson, and Tom Penneycuff; 13 great grandchildren; siblings Melvin (Patricia ) Stout and Donald (Sharon) Smith and several nieces and nephews. Hazel passed away on January 3, 2019 at Homestead of El Dorado. She is preceded in death by her parents, step-father Augustine “Brownie” Smith and son Michael Hammonds. Her family will gather with friends on Tuesday 5-7 p.m. at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Lawns Cemetery following the services.
