Georgia’s life began March 30, 1930 in Marion, KS. She is the daughter of William and Rachael (Weber) Christensen. Georgia is a graduate of Marion High School. She was united in marriage to Billy Dan Higgins on March 20, 1949 in Marion. Georgia worked as a nursing assistant for Dr. White’s medical clinic in El Dorado for many years. She was an active and faithful member of the First Christian Church, the churches Ladies Circle, and helped prepare many fellowship dinners at the church. Georgia enjoyed her two card clubs and traveling. She also enjoyed being able to sponsor the OK Kids Day fishing derby since 2004. Georgia’s greatest joy was her family which includes her four sons Jerry (Shari) Higgins of Broken Arrow, OK, Tom ( Diana) Higgins of Emporia, KS, Rocky (Kate) Higgins of Highlands Ranch, CO, and Tracy (Michelle) Higgins of El Dorado; grandchildren Brandon ( Terresa) Higgins, Amanda (Chris) Karch, Bree (Josh) Lawrence, Heather (Shawn) Hickey, Nichole (Chad) James, Adam Higgins, Kyle Higgins, Kori (Tony) Bock, Zach (Brittany) Higgins, Tiffany Hiebert, Michael (Heather) Higgins, Derek (Kara) Higgins and Rachel Higgins; 20 great grandchildren and her siblings Eugene Christensen and Mary Hett. Georgia passed away on Monday December 17, 2018 at her home. She is preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Georgia’s family will gather with friends on Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the First Christian Church led by Pastor Stan Seymour. Georgia will be laid to rest in Walnut Valley Memorial Park.
