Evelyn’s life began on April 27, 1928, the daughter of Roy and Nellie (Rollings) Wintermote in Benton, Kansas. She attended Benton and El Dorado schools. She married Robert “Bob” Doerflinger on March 1, 1951. He preceded her in 1993. She then married David Place on August 21, 1998, and he preceded her in 2009. Evelyn was a homemaker and a member of the Church of God of Prophecy. She enjoyed Find-a-Word Puzzles, reading, and playing Bingo.
Her loving family includes her son, Rick Sammons of Bel Aire, Maryland; brother, Ron Wintermote of El Dorado; son-in-law, John Sullivan of Weatherford, Texas; grandchildren, Christina Sammons, Stacey Creasey, Curt Sullivan, J.R. Wilder and Amanda Place; several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; daughter, Carol Sullivan; brother, Victor Wintermote; and a sister, Cleta Caput. Evelyn passed away peacefully, Monday, May 13, 2019, having reached the age of 91 years old.
Viewing will be Wednesday, May 15, from 9-5 at Carlson Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held Thursday, May 16, at 10:30 a.m. at Walnut Valley Memorial Park in El Dorado.
