Emidio Raul “Midge” Gomez passed away on Monday, December 9, 2019 in Wichita, KS.
Midge was born October 14, 1928 in Cassoday, KS to Marta Nunez Hernandez and Teodoro Gomez. He began work at an early age for Santa Fe Railroad. He continued working for Santa Fe throughout his life and retired after 48 years of service. Midge also owned a small restaurant in the early 1960s called The Big Burger Drive In, which he ran with his family.
Midge devoted his life to caring for and providing for others. He was a father figure to many people throughout his life. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and loved gardening. He was extremely proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and they were a constant source of joy in his life.
Survivors include son Emidio Gomez, Jr; daughter Belen Gomez-Wells; granddaughter Sierra McVay (Stephen); grandsons Jaydon Wells and Levi Keplar (Katie); great-granddaughters Zayley and Adley Keplar; grandsons Gideon, Noah Raul, Isaac, Israel and Michael McVay, all of El Dorado; sister Matilda Gomez of El Dorado; brother Pete Gomez of El Dorado and Ruben Gomez of Leon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Belen and Sava, brothers Raul, Samuel, Raymond Pilar, and Magdaleno; and great-grandchildren Isaiah, Benjamin, and Thomas.
