Ella Mae Jarvis

Ella Mae Jarvis, of El Dorado, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the age of 91. Ella’s life began on December 22, 1929, the baby of her 16 siblings, to Daniel and Ida (Becker) Eck. When she was a young girl she began writing to a soldier by the name of Riley Lester Mallatt as a pen pal. After he came back from the war, he went to her house and asked for her hand in marriage. They had only met in person 3 days before they got married. They were married on November 13, 1946 and they spent 27 years, 3 months, and 14 days together before he passed away in 1974. Several years after his passing, she remarried to Wallace Jarvis. They were married on September 25, 1981 and were married for 17 years, 7 months, and 7 days before he passed away in 1999. Ella spent her life caring for others as a caregiver, CNA, a Minister for Glory of Life Ministries, and sending out monthly newsletters. Her connection to God and her religious beliefs were her true passion in life. She also enjoyed music and singing, and even played the omnichord.
Ella is survived by her children, Ronald Mallatt, Larry Mallatt, Evert (Terry) Mallatt, Riley Mallatt, Darlinda (Rick) Braddy, and Vilinda Nicks; 10 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Ella is preceded in death by her parents; husbands; siblings, Eva, Joseph, Malinda, Albert, Carolina, Adam, Waldo, Edwin, Susanna, Inez, Paul, Clara, Clifford, Ruey, Wilbert, and Rutha Mae; 3 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
Memorial donations in Ella’s name can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or the Disabled American Veterans.
A visitation will be held from 5-8pm on Thursday, May 13, 2021, with a funeral service to take place at 9:00am on Friday, May 14, 2021, both at Carlson Colonial Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.
