Elbridge’s life began on December 14, 1923 in Blount County, Alabama. He is the son of James and Versie (Beavers) Walker. Elbridge served his country in combat as part of the United States Army during World War II in Europe receiving the bronze star and two purple hearts; and he later transferred to the United State Air Force. He was united in marriage to the former Letha Padfield on April 27, 1949 in North Carolina and the couple has enjoyed 68 plus years of marriage. Elbridge was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone for 36 years. His loving family includes his wife Letha of El Dorado, children James Walker of New Braunfels, TX, Stephen (Adah) Walker of El Dorado and Julie (Chuck) Walker of El Dorado; grandchildren Jason, Aaron, Ryan, Adeline and Zachary Walker and great grandchildren Carrigan and Reese Walker.  . Elbridge passed away on October 17, 2017 in El Dorado. There will be no services. Memorial contributions in his name may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105). Carlson Funeral Home is serving the family.
